A local sales tax option is proposed to fund emergency homeless shelters. The rules of the taxes and their imposition are outlined.

A city or county imposing a tax under this section must certify that it prohibits the possession of alcohol and the illegal possession of controlled substances on the premises or grounds of a temporary or emergency housing shelter for homeless persons funded through revenue generated from the tax under this section.
