Requires all “high-need” schools (70% students who receive free/reduced price meals) to offer breakfast to students after the beginning of the school day. Currently, school breakfast is not considered part of “instructional hours”; this bill clarifies that all schools that provide students the opportunity to engage in educational activities during breakfast can consider that time instructional hours.
OSPI will: develop and distribute guidelines and procedures for the implementation of the program, offer training and assistance to public schools and districts, and collect data on program delivery models.
