SB6274 creates a new Passport To Apprenticeship Opportunities program to establish pathways for former or current youth in foster care or youth experiencing homelessness to access apprenticeship opportunities.
The program has two primary components:
- Increase outreach to foster and homeless youth between the ages of thirteen and eighteen regarding the registered apprenticeship opportunities available to them and how to apply; and
- Provide financial assistance to former foster and homeless youth to meet registered apprenticeship entrance requirements and occupational-specific costs, and providing supportive services to help them register for and complete an apprenticeship.
