HB2643 amends current RCW such that specifici individuals certified by the professional educator standards board must complete a training program on youth suicide screening and referral as a condition of  certification. The training must be three house minimum and must adopt standards for content in consultation with OSPI and DOH.

By July 1, 2021, the training program must incorporate youth suicide safety planning that includes notification of trusted adults and discussion with trusted adults about removal of lethal means.
