The department shall establish and implement policies in the Working Connections Child Care program to promote stability and quality of care for children from low-income households. These policies will focus on supporting school readiness for young learners.

The grace period related to being homeless and qualifying for benefits will be extended from four months to twelve months.

Appropriations Amendment:

Adds an effective date of July 1, 2020.

1st Substitute:

  • Extends the grace period for homeless families to fulfill Working Connections Child Care program requirements from four to 12 months.

The term "homeless" is defined as without a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence as described in the federal McKinney-Vento Act.

Companion Bill
