Prohibits the department of social and health services from using hotel rooms or department offices as placements for children. HB 1883 also requires the department to submit data to the appropriate committees of the legislature information regarding the number, age and gender of children placed in hotels or department offices; length of stay in hotels/offices; efforts to increase foster placement alternatives; reasons for placing children in hotels; and cost of placing in hotels. The final data report is due Jan. 1, 2019. The prohibition related to placing in hotels or offices goes into effect Jan, 2019.
