In order to support community-based public safety and provide comprehensive mental health crisis intervention, HB1392 directs the state military department’s emergency management division to establish the emergency crisis assistance team pilot project, that will create two emergency crisis assistance teams. The state military dept shall establish a competitive grant program to award funding for the 2 teams, one east and one west of the Cascades. The awards will be made by September 1, 2021.
The crisis assistance teams shall offer services that include but are not limited to crisis counseling, suicide prevention, conflict resolution, and resource connection and referrals.
